Moog

Concept 1

As a working artist and fan of Moog products, I was especially excited to see the call for mural proposals for the Moog Music Headquarters in Asheville, North Carolina. The perfect combination of all my passions, I was excited to submit some concepts for the exterior.

The first concept visualizes the incredible expanse of Moog products, and the greater idea of synthesis. This design shows a detailed schematic of the Renfer Capacitence Relay Oscillator Board as a texture and its evolution into products like the Mother 32 and the Subsequent 37. The patches and settings for each instrument could be coordinated with a more experienced sound engineer to create patches that can become an Easter egg for Moog fans that engage with the artwork.

Concept 2

The second concept was all about connectivity. What I find most exciting about Moog products is that, on their own, they each provide a world of possibilities, but when you start to connect them to each other, there is no limit to the music you can create. This proposal is designed to showcase that vast network by placing various Moog products in each window and showing how they connect. The connections would be intentionally placed to provide an easter egg – if you connect the products to match what is shown on the window, it will “unlock” a new sound. While I have set this up to work based on my experience of the products, we could also work with a Moog sound engineer to adjust the connections based on his or her recommendation.
