Field Notes

THE FIELD NOTES PROJECT

On October 27, 2019, I was sitting in a crowded little coffee shop when, overcome with boredom, I began ruffling around in my bag to find something to distract me while I waited for my meal. In that bag I found a long-forgotten Field Notes book and crappy pen that I had purchased in a forced attempt to write and doodle more. Obviously my plan had not stuck.

I began scribbling on the page and a couple of hours later, I had filled out three pages, my plate empty, and a whole new crowd of patrons had filled the shop. I was possessed by the little book. This was the beginning of The Field Notes Project.

Hundreds of pages later, I am still drawing almost every single day in my Field Notes books. This little ritual has become one of my favorite moments of the day: a chance for me to relax, meditate, and just draw whatever I want for however long I feel. A moment just for me.

On this page are just some of my absolute favorite doodles from some of the most recent books.
